We think it’s important to not just talk about our views on Hiring Quality but to share other similar perspectives.
Below are some exerts from a blog written by Mike Roberts at Jibe called ‘Quality Hire = Sasquatch’ and an infographic with results from his survey – which just happen to agree with our point of view that not enough is being done to measure Hiring Quality!
Mike says that measuring the quality of hire is as difficult as finding the Sasquatch, better known as Bigfoot. And we agree.
Wikipedia: “In American folklore, Bigfoot (also known as Sasquatch), is a simian, ape or hominid-like creature that is said to inhabit forests, mainly in the Pacific Northwest.”
We know that Recruiters are normally measured on key metrics, such as time and cost per hire. But we lack the same consistency when it comes to the quality of hire. It’s high on the list of priorities but how do we measure it?
Based on the recent Jibe report – Talent Acquisition Survey – the infographic gives the point of view of the Recruiters. It shows that they agree that Hiring Quality is the best way to measure hiring success. However, nearly half find it challenging to measure accurately.
In Mike’s blog he says:
“Identifying your organization’s own definition of quality of hire is crucial, as is communication between Hiring Managers and Recruiters to ensure everyone is working off the same page. As a recruiting technology vendor, we don’t pretend to have the magic formula for capturing this hard-to-harness metric, but we do know that technology can play a key role. One thing we do know, integration of systems and data is crucial.”
Mike – on the first part, we could not agree with you more! Improved collaboration between Hiring Managers and Recruiters is only going to help. It will drive improvements in the quality of candidates and therefore improve this elusive metric that we call Hiring Quality.
